How these records were gathered

Patients requested it themselves
Persly approaches each hospital on the patient's behalf, obtains the records and delivers them. We cover the issuing fee.
Research use was consented to
Consent for personal data processing is taken at sign-up; research use rests on a separate basis and presupposes pseudonymization.
We do not purchase consent
We operate no cash-for-records arrangement. What a patient receives is their own records and an application that interprets them.

Common questions

What happens if a patient later asks to be removed?
We act on the request as soon as it reaches us. Aggregate figures already released cannot be recalled, but the record is excluded from all subsequent queries.
Did hospitals provide this data?
They did not. Patients obtained their own records, and we hold no data supply agreement with any hospital. Naming hospitals identifies where records were issued; it does not indicate a partnership.
Could a client identify a specific patient?
The system is designed to prevent it. The cell floor, excerpt caps, combination-query blocking and hospital-axis blocking all serve that purpose, and they are layered because no single measure is sufficient on its own.
Are the photographs on this page real patients?
They are not. Every portrait is a stock image, and none of them are our patients. Our patients consented to research use of pseudonymized records, which does not extend to publishing their faces, so we use no real photographs.
